Book Banding
Book banding is a great way of ensuring that children are choosing books at the right level of difficulty and challenge whilst still ensuring choice. Ideally each book banded level should have a variety of books to interest each child. The best way to maintain your book collection is to buy in new books already book banded and a quote can be give to you for this.
However, you may wish to transfer some of your existing books into your book banded system. Book banding is a skilled job and requires time, consistency, and an understanding of what is required at each level. Alison Watley (founder at Narnia Libraries) is an experienced teacher and book bander.
Book banding can be undertaken for whole school lilac to black, or just Y2 to Y6 or just KS1 or KS2.
