School Library Project

This project started with an empty room and boxes of books that had been in the school's previous library. The project involved a complete school book audit and books were either organised to be bookbanded as reading books or in the library as part of a Reading for pleasure section or a themed non-fiction section. Many new books have been bought. The books were all labelled and the children have a library that is easier to use and maintain. The children and staff are delighted with the results.

Whole School Library Project

This school in Telford wanted to put all their books onto the My Simple Library software. This is a big job for any school to undertake so they outsourced the work to Narnia Libraries. All the books were put onto the software, barcoded, and labelled on the spine. Reading for pleasure areas were created and the subject-based books were sorted into themes using colours and pictures. All the classes scan books in and out of the software and they have extended the use of this to keep track of home reading books as well.

Accelerated Reader project

This primary school uses AR in KS2 but are very short of books. They had shelves of books that I was able to level and label creating them instantly with more books. I am now working with them to order some more books to address their gaps and bring their collection up to date.

Book banding project

This primary school wanted their KS2 book banded books checked. Most of the stock was over 25yrs old and very tatty and unappealing. Children were choosing the best books they could find but also dealing with the negative images that this book shelf was giving. The books were sorted and some books that were unused in the classroom were then bookbanded to provide some better choices for the children. There was great excitement around the shelves with the children pleased at what they regarded as new books!
