Cataloguing the library

Updated: Feb 23

This school was aware that they were not making the best use of their books simply because they did not know what they had or where it might be. The photo of the cupboard is a sight we see in most schools: books that have been put away, and no one has time to sort them out. This is a common problem in primary schools. Narnia Libraries is in the process of going through all their books and cataloguing them onto a software system. The books are also being labeled, so it is clear which shelves they belong to. The job is two-thirds of the way through and stopping for a festive break before completing in January. Pictures are of the story shelves so far.

In January the job was completed. The cupboard of books was sorted, and many books from previous class sets were put into the library or into the book banded section. The school now has a clear idea of where their gaps are and what the next budget needs to focus on.
